P.O.R.T. offers a variety of services including:
P.O.R.T. Care Bags
Canvas tote bags filled with a variety of personal care items and snacks, as well as a hand-made quilt, usually given to families when their child is hospitalized at the time of diagnosis.
Family Support Volunteers
Volunteers assigned one-on-one with a family for support and friendship.
Respite Volunteers
Volunteers available to sit with a child in the hospital so parents can meet with doctors, take time out together, work, attend to other children at home, run errands, etc.
P.O.R.T. In-patient Family Snack Pantry
Available to all in-patient families and located on 7-South, this pantry is stocked with snack and quick meal items.
Phone/Gas Cards
Families commuting from outside the Grand Rapids area face special obstacles. Phone and/or gas cards are available to qualifying families.
P.O.R.T. Dad's Group
Family friendly activities provided 3-4 times each year.These events are planned so that Dad can bring all the kids along. The only rule - Leave Mom at Home!
Medication Cooler
During treatment, some medications need to be refrigerated - and they all need to be brought to each clinic visit. P.O.R.T. is pleased to provide a lightweight cooler to each patient in treatment.
